Lumineers are thin, affordable tooth coverings that require less preparation than traditional veneers. They’re made of an ultra-thin laminate that mimics the appearance and light-reflecting properties of your natural tooth enamel.
Because Lumineers are so thin, the team doesn’t have to alter your tooth enamel to attach them. Their unique makeup offers years of durability. In fact, with proper care, Lumineers can last for up to 20 years.
The team at Frost Family Dental uses Lumineers to correct a variety of oral imperfections, including:
You might also benefit from Lumineers if you have misaligned teeth. Lumineers can make your teeth appear straighter and more uniform.
Getting Lumineers involves two appointments spaced several weeks apart.
At your initial consultation, the team conducts an oral exam, reviews your oral health history, and asks about your goals for treatment. They also take a series of oral X-rays to assess the position and condition of your teeth.
Next, the team determines the shade of white that’s right for you. They then take impressions of your teeth and send your impressions to a dental laboratory that manufactures your custom Lumineers.
About a week later you return to the practice. The team lines up your Lumineers and bonds them to your permanent teeth. They polish your Lumineers, assess your bite, and provide you with a list of care instructions.
Lumineers are incredibly tough and durable. You can consume your favorite foods and beverages without worrying about stains or damage.
That said, it’s still important to practice good oral hygiene. The team at Frost Family Dental recommends brushing and flossing daily and visiting the office twice a year for an oral exam and professional cleaning.
If you decide that Lumineers aren’t right for you, they can be removed at any time. Because Lumineers are “no prep,” your permanent teeth remain healthy and intact. The team can quickly remove them during an outpatient procedure.
